Zaiko Langa Langa was created 24 December 1969 by the founders D.V. Moanda (deceased 1984), Henri Mongombe (deceased 11/10/2006), Dela Marcelin and André Bita (deceased 1993).
They were part of a group called Bel Guide National.
Manuaku and I were in this group and Gégé Mangaya, my current chef d'orchestre who used to be with Thu-Zaina and O.K. Jazz,
joined the group during a rehearsal. Papa Wemba who was the friend of Gégé's cousin, who had just returned from Brussels,
went with them to Mangaya's house. Arriving he found l'orchestre Bel Guide in rehearsal and asked if he could improvise
a Tabu Ley song with them. I think it was 'Adios Tété'.

When he sang everybody was amazed and after hearing him D. V. Moanda dared to suggest that all the other musicians in the group were no good.
He proposed that we dissolve the group in order to form a new one.
Therefore it was almost Papa Wemba who triggered the group Zaiko Langa langa.
That was the start. Manuaku and I stayed in the new group and Papa Wemba joined. (*)
